RESORT SNAPSHOTS
Scroll down for a brief description of what to expect in each resort.
Pluses, minuses and our honest opinion.

ARGENTIERE:
Part of the Chamonix Valley, and about a 10 minute drive from Chamonix centre. The Grand Montets ski area is located here (arguably the valley's best skiing). Argentiere has its own thriving community, bars, and social scene, and is also within easy reach of Chamonix, either by car or regular bus service. Planet Subzero's popular farmhouse property is located here.
Good for: Keen skiers / boarders who want to ride hard, party a bit, and live in a very beautiful spot.
Not so good for: Complete beginners or anyone wanting to be in the thick of Chamonix's nightlife.

AVORIAZ:
Purpose built resort in the Portes du Soleil region which spans the French and Swiss boarder. Located above Morzine, and high in the mountains, Avoriaz is snowsure and popular, particularly with snowboarders. Great skiing and a totally pedestrianised resort, Avoriaz is a fantastic playground, whatever your standard of skiing or boarding. Planet Subzero have apartments here.
Good for: Access to a massive ski area, good snowpark, and tight-knit, friendly community.
Not so good for: Anyone looking for cute chalets and rustic old buildings. Avoriaz can feel remote.

BANFF:
Located at 1400m, Banff is the Canadian Rockies' highest town. With its terrain of peaks and lakes the area is outstandingly beautiful and understandably popular. Well known for its excellent snow, long season, and with 3 ski areas to choose from - Lake Louise, Sunshine and Bannf@Norquay, you'll be spoilt for choice. Planet Subzero have a shared chalet here, run with our partners in Banff.
Good for: All types of skiing - from powder to groomers or the board park. Plus a very long season!
Not so good for: Anyone who wants everything on your doorstep, anyone who doesn't like the cold!

CHAMONIX:
In the shadow of Mont Blanc, Chamonix is probably Europe's most famous ski area, and the home of European mountaineering. Surrounded by jagged peaks and imposing glaciers, Chamonix is well known for being extreme. A proper town unlike any other Alps resort, with many different activities on offer. A place to fall in love with! Planet Subzero have a shared chalet & apartments in Chamonix.
Good for: Off piste skiing / boarding, climbing, mountaineering. Great nightlife! Stunning scenery.
Not so good for: Complete beginners, people who aren't happy to travel to lifts. No boardpark.

COURCHEVEL:
With the massive 3 Valleys ski area on your doorstep, Courchevel is ever popular. Spread between different levels, each with their own character, all linked by regular buses and an extensive network of pistes. Courchevel really has something for everyone - from the laid back village of Le Praz to the ritz & glitz of 1850. Planet Subzero have a range of chalets and apartments.
Good for: Piste bashing, a great park and varied off-piste. Hanging out with the rich and famous
Not so good for: Anyone on a tight budget! Anyone who wants to speak French.

LA TANIA:
La Tania is Courchevel's less well known neighbour. Still with the 3 Valleys to play in, La Tania is less exclusive, less expensive and more laid back than Courchevel or Meribel. Pretty and tree-lined with loads of cute chalets and a friendly community of seasonaires, the resort is still within easy reach of all the best skiing/boarding that the 3 Valleys offers. Planet Subzero have apartments here.
Good for: Families or anyone after a quieter, cheaper 3v option, but still with the massive ski area.
Not so good for: Party animals, or anyone looking to be in the heart of the action.

LES ARCS (1800):
Arc 1800 is the 'main' Les Arcs village. Purpose built and pedestrianised, everything is right on the slopes. Paradiski is the linked Les Arcs and La Plagne ski area, as big as the 3 Valleys or Espace Killy, but not as well developed, and therefore not as busy. With fantastic terrain, great offpiste and a good board park, the resort is ideal for anyone of any level. Planet Subzero have a range of apts.
Good for: Skiers / boarders of any ability, looking to improve. Mixed French / English community.
Bad for: Pretty chalets, or anyone after sophisticated night life - it's fun not posh!

LES ARCS (2000):
Arc 2000 is located just above the new Arc 1950 development (aka Disneyland). Purpose built apartment blocks, but with great facilities and conveniently located right on the best of Paradiski's slopes. High, snowsure, and with a small, tightknit community. Nightlife is limited, but there are plenty of seasonaires, so the social scene is still fun. Planet Subzero have a range of apts here.
Good for: Anyone who wants fresh tracks on the best terrain! Smaller community atmosphere.
Not so good for: Really lively nightlife. Arc 2000 is quite secluded and can be cold.

LES ARCS (VALLANDRY / PLAN PEISEY):
Arguably the nicest, friendliest and best of the Arcs villages, Planet Subzero have a very soft spot for Vallandry / Plan Peisey. With fantastic tree lined skiing, great off piste and direct access to La Plagne, you have the best of all worlds to ski / board. Nightlife is anything from laid back and chilled to crazy apres ski, banging house or Drum&Bass. Planet Subzero have shared chalets & apts here.
Good for: The best of the area's skiing / boarding, friendly mixed community & good mix of nightlife.
Not so good for: Anyone after a big resort, sophistication or ritz and glitz - it's very down to earth!

LES 2 ALPS:
Described as the Alps' Las Vegas, Les 2 Alps is well known for its fantastic board park and lively nightlife. With a good mix of English, French, Italian & Scandinavians, the vibe is fun and friendly. High and snowsure, with an all year round glacier at 3600m plus some great off-piste and access to the world-reknowned La Grave, the skiing / boarding has it all! Planet Subzero have a shared chalet.
Good for: Board park, off piste skiing, party animals and anyone after a long season / all year round.
Not so good for: Pretty chalets, easy access to other resorts.

LES MENUIRES:
Les Menuires is a concrete jungle in the heart of the 3 Valleys, below Val Thorens. With direct access to some of the best 3 Valleys skiing. Quieter, more laid back and cheaper than the other 3 Valleys resorts, but still with access to the same ski area. What Les Menuires lacks in alpine charm, it makes up for in friendly atmosphere & chilled, fun community. Planet Subzero have apts.
Good for: Access to a massive ski area, anyone looking for a chilled out (but still fun) ski season.
Not so good for: Anyone after alpine charm and cute chalets, anyone who wants crazy nightlife.

MERIBEL:
Meribel needs no introduction. Ever popular, the resort is at the heart of the 3 Valleys. Busy, English, lively and fun, it has great skiing, great nightlife and great facilities. You're guaranteed to have a good time - if you can take the pace! The resort is pretty, the girls are pretty, and the skiing/boarding and parties are massive. Planet Subzero have a shared chalet and apartments here.
Good for: Anyone who want to ride hard and play hard, groomed slopes and board park.
Not so good for: Anyone on a budget, wants a quiet life, or anyone who wants to learn French!

MORZINE:
Morzine is quietly one of our most popular resorts. Great board park, fantastic offpiste terrain, pretty villages, and great nightlife, Morzine is a big resort with a friendly, cosmopolitan community. Located below Avoriaz and in the heart of the Portes du Soleil region, you have access to some of France and Switzerland's most varied skiing. Planet Subzero have a shared chalet here.
Good for: Everyone - skiers, boarders, families, party animals and quiet souls.
Not so good for: Anyone after a high, snowsure resort - Morzine is low and the season can be short.

TIGNES:
Tignes is big, high, snowsure, and has not only one of Europe's best board parks, but also one of the best networks of pistes, and some amazing offpiste runs. Linked with Val d'Isere to make up Espace Killy and located at 2200m, you're right up in the high mountains. What Tignes lacks in alpine charm, it makes up for in skiing, facilities and buzzing nightlife. Planet Subzero have apts here.
Good for: Keen skiers / boarders, board park, offpiste, and the longest season in the Alps.
Not so good for: Tree skiing, white-outs, alpine charm and anyone who feels the cold!

VAL D'ISERE:
Val d'Isere is Tignes' more glamorous (and well known) neighbour. Busy, popular, English and lively, Val d'Isere is all about fun. With some seriously exclusive chalets, as well as a buzzing seasonaire community, Val d'Isere is a great place for a season. The slopes are fantastic, the board park rocks, and the parties go off. What more could you want? Planet Subzero have apartments here.
Good for: Anyone who wants it all! Skiing, boarding, on piste, off piste, board park and partying!
Not so good for: Anyone on a budget, or who wants spacious accommodation. A quiet life!

VALLANDRY / PLAN PEISEY (LES ARCS / PARADISKI):

WHISTLER:
Whistler's popularity never wanes. With that enviable champagne powder reputation, plus one of the world's best board parks, Whistler is our most popular non-european resort. Big, busy, spread out, and with great nightlife and cosmopolitan seasonaire community, the long winter and varied terrain mean you have a great opportunity to experience it all. Planet Subzero have shared chalets here.
Good for: Powder bowls, board park, nightlife and varied terrain, with pretty, purpose built village.
Not so good for: Getting around - Whistler is very spread out and big.
