WEEKS 11 & 12
SNOW AND CHALET REPORT
Les Arcs
The time just seems to fly faster and
faster. It's craziness. How can it possibly be 3 months
since the guys arrived in Tignes?
We've had two weeks of blazing sunshine
and warm temperatures, to tie in with school holidays.
So the powder hunt has been temporarily over. Everyone's
calmed down the riding, and there's been some serious
tanning going on, with lots of burnt bits (Ricardo,
Rhi, and Dave Lundie). Getting down to shorts and T
shirts in February? Not normal, but nice.
Steph's been over to 2 alps to try out
Kite skiing on the Col de Lauteret, plus up to Chamonix
for the Redbull snowthrill. Much entertainment, involving
nearly being helicoptered off the mountain (clever),
plus many many free redbull vodkas (dangerous). The
freeride event itself was amazing to watch, and was
won by Swede Sverre Lillequist in the guys and American
Megan Carney for the girls.
We've been on a road trip over to Tignes
to check out the terrain over there and visit the guys,
plus keeping up practice in the board park and making
a return visit to the bowling alley for old times sake.
The 3 mezzanine boys, Gareth, Nick and
Andy, have been busy filming their improvements on the
kicker from hell - uphill landing onto solid ice and
tree stumps. Why oh why? Resulting in many many lost
skis and arse plants, it all just looks painful. But
persistent is always good, and if nothing else, it's
making for some good footage for the PS0 video.
The end of stay party for Eleanor, Keely,
Dave, Chris and Simon was certainly memorable. Or not,
in the case of some people. With a landrover completely
full of booze, it was good to see all of Vallandry can
fit in one chalet. Drinking games was the beginning
of the end. Katie was on fine form again, as was Dave,
plus the apartment boys who were back on the vodka shots
... again ... shame on Judge for losing in an arm wrestle
to a girl. Go Alison!
Michelle and Susannah are now both back
in town, along with Lou, Gerald, and the new apartment
boys Barney, Keith and Alex. And after 2 weeks of sunshine,
it's finally been dumping again in the last couple of
days. 20cm already, and more on the way tonight. Get
back on it!
