WEEK 10
SNOW AND CHALET REPORT

Road trips, Paddy's day, and one sick puppy ...

This week's been pretty much similar to last week (amazing how time flies when you're into a routine of riding all day every day) - bright sunshine, days in the board park, and lots of partying. Scott, Steph and Tony have all got the 180s nicely off the kicker on skis and board ... and Dec and Dave are nailing some nice grabs and big jumps.

Wednesday saw Scott and Steph doing a day's 'work', repping a bus load of people on a day trip to Val d'Isere. In spite of the early start, it was definitely worth the effort, with a guided tour (thanks to Scott's mate, Dave) meaning we had a whole day of being shown round the Espace Killy's best runs. Definitely nice to have a change of scene, and with blazing sunshine, it was a great day for clocking up some piste miles.

Pete is definitely now in poll position for chalet pisshead (overtaking Rhod by a mile) after his performance on Friday night. Think we lost count after he puked for the 112th time ... NICE! A very sorry state ... wish we'd had a camera.

And miraculously, Dave has managed a whole week on the slopes without ruining another board (3 trashed so far and with 2 week's to go - anything could happen!). Thanks go to Gordy for some impressive repair work.

This weekend has been another trip over to Tignes for the Bouygtel Freeride Comp, with Steph, Martha and Ross all entering. Held on the Les Tuffes face in Tignes le Lac, the course was a maze of crazy tight couloirs. Although conditions were pretty hairy (think steep, icy, rocky, with boulders of solid avalanche debris and nowhere to put the turns in!), it was a great 2 days, with Steph and Martha both holding their own against tough competition.

Sunday night was the Paddy's Day John Lynch memorial bowling trophy - in honour of all things Irish and the great man's birthday. With green and orange fancy dress to mark the occasion, the day was spent drinking in the sun, followed by pints of Guiness in the RedHot saloon, and an evening of lethal green vodka cocktails. Bowling was chaos: Prizes went to Jess for being the biggest loser, Katie for being the highest scoring female and top prize to Rob for overall best score.

Snow news ...

The sun's been the predominant feature for the past couple of weeks - with high temperatures meaning spring slush and most of our time spent piste cruising or back in the board park. It's currently raining in resort (Monday night), but the snowline's predicted to drop over the next couple of days. Here's crossing fingers - could definitely use some more white stuff.

The Quickcup and BUSC have arrived in Les Arcs at the same time this weekend - so watch out for next week's news of big air and big carnage
