WEEK 9
SNOW AND CHALET REPORT

Snow, jumps, sunshine ... and the DARK SIDE

Monday saw the final of the Ripcurl freeride in Les Arcs, after it was delayed over the weekend due to bad weather. Perfect bluebird day after last weekend's snowfall! Magic. Check out the photos and report from the event here.

The rest of the week has got warmer and warmer, with summery blazing sunshine and tans (or burns in the case of Scott's forehead) to match. We've been hanging out in the board park pretty much every day - with our own supply of tunes, beers, food, and a slopeside living room (benches, fridge, coffee table) to keep us entertained. Scott and Dec are hitting the kickers harder and harder (nothing to do with the beers), and Sarah and Jess have been showing the boys how to do it.

According to Yoda, the force is strong with him ... newcomer Darth Pete, who joined us last week as a skier, has already defected to the dark side. After only 4 days in resort, he tried out boarding and by day 2, he's already been hitting jumps. The final sign of his defection came today when he committed himself by spending £400 on a new tray to slide around on. TRAITOR!!! Peer pressure ... what can we say.

Not one to be put off her food for long, Jola has had a nasty few days of starvation in Bourg hospital (not another one!) with a dose of appendicitis. Latest news is she's been eating ham and will be out on Monday (tomorrow) - no doubt ready for a steak. See you on the slopes soon!

Snow news ...

The snow in Les Arcs started off this week as beautifully soft and powdery after the previous week's storms. However, after 5 days of 16 degree sunshine, the off-piste snow is now pretty unride-able (and unstable too so playing offpiste is kind of unadvisable).

However, there's still some great riding to be had, with the board park looking good now that Dom's had a moan at the head pisteur for not building enough jumps (!!), and the pistes in great spring condition (ie icy in the morning, but softening up nicely by about 12). All in all, a great week with lots of lunchtime starts and beers in the sun - you can't go hard all the time!

Dom - wouldn't mess with him either
