WEEKS 13 & 14
SNOW AND CHALET REPORT
Les Arcs
It just gets better and better. We've
had 2 big dumps, some really cold weather, and this
is about as good as it gets. Everyone's got renewed
powder grins, and we've been doing loads of hiking -
valley of the kings, the grive, valley of the idiots
... plus riding the trees and hitting the big kickers
above the 69 ... with snow this soft, the landings are
perfect for trying new tricks.
We've been on a Les Arcs trip over to
Chamonix for a long weekend, which coincided with probably
the best conditions of the season. Proper face shots
and waist deep champagne powder on the Grands Montets.
With a few moments of sunshine to pick out the route.
WOW. Paul, Gina and Tristan made the most of it with
a guide to do the Valley Blanche - and lucked out with
apparently the best conditions all season. And the whole
weekend was such an adrenalin rush, Tristan went straight
out to hit his credit card with a new board and boots.
Ooops. While Gaz and Phil had to just settle for the
thrill of a new hat.
A few of us have also been off heliskiing
in Italy ... the day after another snowfall. Enough
said.
Chris, Louis, Sven and Mike have been
hucking the park solidly, and Susannah's been taming
the new troublemakers ... faster than she's ever gone
before. Rob's been busy coping with the excesses of
his girlfriend and sister's combined visit, and Alison
was last seen in 1800 with her waaaaah. Gareth and Ben
have been getting well into hiking, and Phil's also
had family to stay, which combined with keeping up relations
with the guys n girls in the Blanc, has meant not too
much sleep for a few days.
Meanwhile, Tim's been gyrating his way
through the karaoke, and Toby's been speeding through
the last few runs of his season, before heading back
the UK. Good luck with your new job! Unfortunately it's
not all good news, as Mike took a nasty hit on the black
kicker last week and has put himself out of action for
the rest of the season. Painful and now with an arm
full of pins and plates, but at least it was huuuuge,
and the boy's still smiling. Get well soon!
Looking forward to the Quickcup arriving
in resort next week, and a trip to Verbier and the Brits.
