SNOW AND CHALET REPORTS
Meribel (report by Rachel)
It's mid-season now and it seems the hardcore
pace of riding and drinking has been taking it's toll.
The guys in the Meribel apartment have been suffering
from a whole bunch of injuries including black eyes,
tendonitus and board boot induced foot injuries. But
by far the worst off is poor Phil who ended up in hospital
for four days following a nasty boarding fall and now
has big metal staples holding him together! We're wishing
you a really speedy recovery Phil - hope you can get
back out on the mountain again soon.
But those who are still able have been getting out
and about in the snow. Kirsty and I had a great day
exploring some of the runs at the far end of the valley
and everyone has been making the most of the recent
snow fall to learn some new tricks. Kirsty has sorted
180s and James has pulled off a 360 - hurrah - and the
others have apparently constructed a monster of a kicker
and from the sound of things are pretty much learning
to fly!
Two of the original Meribel Crew from back in December,
Chris and Pete, have both been spotted on day trip visits
here in Meribel. Good to see you again guys.
And now it's snowing again, and the English half term
skiers have all left resort, so we should have a good
week coming up!
Tignes (report by Kirsty)
Wow another month has flown by and we
have recently welcomed Beth and Matt to the flat. The
last two weeks have been renamed Birthday fortnight.
We celebrated three birthdays in the flat - Tall Pete,
Ray and George (well technically she doesn't sleep here
but practically lives here in the day)
Being the adventurous bunch we are we went over to Val
d'Isere to celebrate Pete's birthday. Obviously a quiet
night was had by all - office chair jousting, the Peg,
shoulder jousting, numerous cocktails, dancing in Dick's
and general misbehaving by all and sundry! Saturday
was a write-off with many of the flat occupants not
even realising the day existed! Luckily to ease the
hangovers there were loads of CSI episodes to be watched
as well as The A team. Worryingly the oldies in the
flat have had to explain the concept of The A Team to
the youngsters. Thankfully they have embraced the Jazz
and are now inaugurated into the way of Hannibal.
Sunday of the same weekend was Rays Birthday.
Due to his injury he was seen in the Loop at 1pm with
Scott, Scott and G. They all staggered home at about
7pm when the next team took over entertaining Ray by
heading up to Val Claret. A visit to Saint Jaques to
try the 11% beers left the team mildly inebriated as
they headed off to Crowded House. More beer, shots and
misbehaving led the gang to The Melting Pot. At this
point Kirsty decided she had had enough and was escorted
by Pete back over the lake. Pete, Pete, Abi, Chris and
Rich got on down to the drum and bass. Monday was another
write-off! Georges birthday was on Tuesday and by then
the pain of consuming alcohol had kicked in. However
George managed to have a massive one!
It must sound from all this partying that no one has
been out riding. To the contrary the team have been
out pounding the slopes of Tignes and Val d'Isere. Chris
entered a big air competition, Tall Pete is into trying
new skis, Pete is burning the midnight oil but still
making it on to the slopes, Damian has made a triumphant
return to his board, Kirsty is into wiping out grumpy
Frenchman on the slopes even G has finally made it over
to Val d'Isere!
Finally Matt and Beth experienced their first Loop
party. The theme was cartoon characters. Check out the
photos to admire the awesome costumes - Captain America,
Scooby Doo, Robin (minus Batman), Cat Woman and Thelma.
March is proving to be another month of Birthdays so
watch this space for further fun and frolics. Have a
good one.
